Digital camera prices fall under $100

Drug Store News, March 3, 2008

Digital camera sales peaked in 2007, and that means suppliers are getting more competitive on prices, driving them under $100 on many models.

General Imaging will be doing that next month when it begins selling its cameras at Walgreens. The cameras will arrive in stores April 15 with prices starting at $89.

"[Walgreens] has been selling our cameras on its Web site, but now we'll be going into 6,000 stores," said Rene Buhay, General Imaging senior vice president of marketing and sales in the Americas. "And this will be our first venture into the food and drug category."
