Drug Store News, April 24, 2000
Scientific evidence has shown that bad breath is caused by a group of anaerobic bacteria breeding below the surface of the tongue and often in the throat and/or tonsils. These odor-causing bacteria thrive in the absence of free oxygen and produce Volatile Sulfur Compounds such as Hydrogen Sulfide (the rotten egg smell). The growth of oral bacteria increases under certain conditions such as dry mouth, post nasal drip, and high protein diets. Unfortunately, dry mouth is very often caused by using commercial oral products, commonly loaded with alcohol or harsh detergents, like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (which is also linked to canker sores).

Research on thousands of clinical patients at the California Breath Clinics has shown that those patients who switched to oral care formulas containing pharmaceutical-grade chlorine dioxide ([CIO.sub.2]) exhibited a sharp and long-lasting drop in the production of these odorous and foul-tasting VSC's. Daily use of the formulas prevented the reoccurrence of bad breath, sour/bitter tastes and dry mouth. Patients also noticed improved periodontal (gum) health and whiter tooth enamel due to the oxygenating effects of [OXYD-8.sup.TM], an exclusive proprietary oxidizing formula containing [CIO.sub.2].
The clinical formulas used in these studies are now available under the brand name [TheraBreath.sup.TM]. The [TheraBreath.sup.TM] oral care product line features the oxygenating power of [OXYD-8.sup.TM] which is exclusively compounded with pharmaceutical-grade [CIO.sub.2]. Although there are other competing products on the market that make similar claims of efficacy, do not be confused by these non-clinical imitators. [TheraBreath.sup.TM] really works!
