Mylan, Watson get BuSpar approvals

Drug Store News, April 23, 2001

Mylan Laboratories won approval to market a 15 mg version of buspirone, the generic name of Bristol-Myers Squibb's BuSpar anti-anxiety drug. Watson Pharmaceuticals will market 5 mg and 10 mg versions of the drug. Both companies have exclusive marketing rights to the drug (respectively) for 180 days.

The approval, handed down by the U.S. District Court in Washington, ends BMS's unsuccessful bid to extend its BuSpar patent.
