Alpharma launches Generic Atarax Syrup

Alpharma USPD has begun shipping Hydroxyzine HCI Syrup USP, bioequivalent to Pfizer's Atarax Syrup. The product is indicated for the management of pruritis due to allergic conditions and for the symptomatic relief of anxiety and tension. The syrup will be available in pint-sized bottles and will begin shipping this month.

Alpharma's U.S. Pharmaceuticals division, based in Baltimore, is currently the largest manufacturer of liquid and topical generic prescription pharmaceuticals in the United States.
