CLEVELAND -- A digital deal could be on the way for American Greetings and Egreetings Network, the San Francisco-based electronic greeting and gift site. According to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, AG, which owns a 19.6 percent stake in the company (6.8 million common shares), has discussed combining its Internet business, americangreetings.com, with Egreetings.

Talks thus far "have been exploratory in nature," according to the filing. Although "certain discussions regarding specific combination proposals are currently underway," it indicated no agreement deadline.
