NEW YORK -- Thomson Healthcare announced the release of its Physicians' Desk Reference for Nutritional Supplements. The 700-page desk reference will feature clinical research summaries, sections on indications and us age, potential interactions and dosage/overdosage for each supplement.
The reference book retails for $59.95 and was written by Dr. Sheldon Hendler, clinical professor of medicine at the University of California at San Diego.

According to Information Resources Inc. figures, the aggregate of supplements and vitamins totaled $3.3 billion last year. Other surveys show that as many as 78 percent of Americans used a vitamin or mineral supplement last year, while 45 percent of Americans consumed an herbal supplement.
