Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedKilts' Gillette departure leads spate of exec changes at Proctor & Gamble
Drug Store News, June 26, 2006 by Antoinette Alexander
Procter & Gamble last month announced a string of executive changes, most notably the decision that James Kilts will step down as head of the Gillette business unit to focus exclusively on the Gillette integration until he retires in October.
According to P&G, Kilts will continue to report to A.G. Lafley, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer. Assuming Kilts' day-to-day responsibilities for the Gillette business is Mark Leckie, current president of the Duracell and Braun business unit, who will serve as group president of the Gillette global business unit. The moves are effective July 1.
It is expected that in his new role Kilts will focus on the integration of the Gillette sales force, the reduction of excess inventory, the execution of cost-cutting initiatives and the realization of synergies between the two companies.
Additional management changes, also effective July 1, include:
* Joseph Dooley, president of commercial operations in North America, has been elected president of Duracell, reporting to Leckie.
* Christopher de Lapuente, president of global hair care, has been elected group president of global professional and retail hair care, continuing to report to Susan Arnold, vice chairman of P&G Beauty & Health. Carsten Fischer, president of global professional care, now will report to de Lapuente.
* Paolo de Cesare, president of global skin care, personal cleansing and deodorants, now will focus exclusively on the skin care business with his election as president of global skin care. He will continue to report to Arnold.
* Mary Ann Pesce, president of new business development, will assume de Cesare's duties in deodorants and male personal care and cleansing with her election as president of new business development, deodorant/male personal care and personal cleansing.
