The FDA has approved Mutual Pharmaceutical's ANDA for its tramadol HCl, a generic equivalent of Ortho-McNeil's Ultram. Tramadol 50 mg tablets are available in 100-, 500- and 1,000-count bottles and are indicated for the management of moderate to moderately severe pain in adults. Ultram's 2001 sales reached $650 million.
