American Drug Stores finalizes Utah-based marketing team

SALT LAKE CITY -- American Drug Stores has finalized plane to relocate its marketing staff from Oakbrook, Ill., to Salt Lake City, the headquarters of its parent company, American Stores. As a consequence, some staff and management changes have been made, according to Terry Maloy, senior vice president of marketing and planning.

In June, the healthcare marketing staff made the move. The rest of ADS' marketing department, including beauty care, consumables, sundry/seasonal, advertising, pricing and scanning will move in July and August.

Maloy is already based in Salt Lake City, as is Meredith Anderson, vice president of marketing for beauty care.

Bob Maag, vice president of marketing for health care, sundry/seasonal and consumables, will move from Oakbrook to Salt Lake City in August. Hope Stone, who joined ADS as director of advertising and sales from Thrifty PayLess, will relocate from Portland, Ore. to Salt Lake City this month.

All of American Drug Stores' directors of marketing--Brent Keil (health care), Michelle Hobson (beauty care), Dave Addington (sundry/seasonal) and Kevin Curry (consumables) will retain their current posts in Salt Lake City. Curry recently assumed the consumables post from John McGovern, who was promoted to vice president of human resources.

The company also announced the appointment of Sangeeta Prasad as director of marketing strategy and development and the promotion of Sandy Hall-Lugo to manager of beauty care training and merchandising.

Prasad was previously a senior brand manager for skin care for Procter and Gamble's Sydney, Australia division. She is charged with developing new retail concepts, which includes developing business plans, overseeing consultants and consumer research, selecting test markets, developing pricing and positioning for new concepts, and implementing and evaluating new concepts. She reports to Terry Maloy.

Hall-Lugo was previously a cosmetics coordinator for the Southwest region. She reports to Hobson.

New location, new jobs

As a result of both the relocation and sales growth at the company, American Drug Stores has also made a number of personnel appointments at the marketing manager and marketing analyst level. All will be based in Salt Lake City unless indicated otherwise.

Enio Casale has been promoted from seasonal marketing analyst to photo and floral marketing manager, filling a vacancy. He was replaced by John Drechny, who will also handle housewares.

Erin Gaza, marketing manager for consumables, will retain her post in Oakbrook. Anita Jelinski has been appointed marketing analyst for consumables, filling a vacancy.

Keirsa Grosenbach has been appointed marketing analyst for beauty, filling a vacancy. Naomi Duvall, has been appointed marketing analyst for health care, filling a vacancy

The company does not yet have in place marketing managers in beauty care, health care or sundry/seasonal.
