New T.V. show targets pharmacists and C.E.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Pharmacists will begin to feel the "roar of the greasepaint" as a new television show targeted directly to them takes to the airwaves.

"Pharmacy Rounds," a weekly pharmacy television series presented by the University of California, San Francisco, School of Pharmacy, will debut this month on Lifetime Medical Television calbe network. The half-hour ACPE-accredited programs will be aired each Sunday at 7:00 p.m. and pharmacist viewers will be able to receive continuing education credits by watching.

"Pharmacists need and want high-quality continuing education to help them keep up with the constant flow of new developments in drug therapy," said Eric Herfindal, Pharm.D. and the show's executive producer.

Viewers are urged to check their cable guide for exact time and dates of shows.

The programming is being produced by American Medical Video, Houston, which also produces the weekly "Milestones in Medicine" series, now in its fourth year. Also scheduled this month is a special, four-part "Pharmacy Rounds/Milestones in Medicine" focusing on biotechnology.

In August, "Pharmacy Rounds" will feature a two-part miniseries entitled "Quality in an Era of Cost Containment."
