NACDS conference explores Rx of the 90s
ANAHEIM - Directors of pharmacy from major drug chains nationwide, representatives from pharmaceutical manufacturers, and friends of pharmacy will converge here August 26 to attend NACDS' 33rd Annual Pharmaceutical Conference being held at the Anaheim Hilton.
Dubbed "Decade of Transition," the four-day conference will explore the future of retail pharmacy over the next decade. Of particular interest to attendees will be discussion on the changing health care environment of the '90s and its affect on retail pharmacy. A panel of experts, headed by Arthur Miller of the Harvard Law School and the TV show, "Millers Court," will take an in-depth, futuristic look at the quality and efficiency of health care, technology and patient care over the next decade.

Attendees will also be able to attend a series of mini-seminars that will feature such topics as: the impact of technology, presented by Bill Felkey, M.S., Auburn University; managing patient care, presented by Bruce Berger, Ph.D., Auburn University; research and information on the retail prescription marketplace, presented by Kurt Proctor, Ph.D., NACDS director, research and information; driving sales by listening to customer's advice, Tom Leonard, president of Stew Leonard's of Danbury, Conn.; and catering to the older patient, presented by Jack Robbins, Ph.D., Schering Laboratories.
Famed ABC sports commentator Chris Schenkel will be a special breakfast guest speaker.
Chain drug retailers will be able to visit with drug manufacturers at their booths during exhibit hours and at business conferences scheduled throughout the four days. Chain and associate members may earn 0.85 CEUs for verified participation in the conference.
