Drug Store News, Oct 14, 1991
MELVILLE, N.Y. -- Genovese Drug Stores has Good News for seniors.
It's a free, four-page newsletter that comes out once a month and contains a calendar for that month.
Good News is an addition to Genovese's Senior 60-Plus program, which includes a 10 percent discount on prescriptions every day and, on Tuesdays, a special 10 percent discount on all Genevese's private label products.
Program newsletter
The newsletter's front page features a color photo of seniors. On the inner-page spread opposite the calendar are 12 60-Plus coupons. Three coupons stay the same: a film developing offer, a double manufacturer's coupon and an offer of a free stamp with a greeting card purchase. The other nine coupons vary in each issue.

The back page offers some health-related information--for example, on high blood pressure or, as in the August issue, on early detection of breast cancer. (Accompanying this article is a schedule of mammography screenings at mobile units outside Genovese drug stores. The screenings are done by Women's Outreach Network, a Long Island-based organization.) There's also a box on the back page asking for comments on Good News.
Genovese prints 200,000 copies of the newsletter/calendar each month and offers them at the pharmacy counter, front checkout and other key points in the stores. The August issue was also direct mailed to selected pharmacy customers.
