Don Bell, Thrift vp, to retire after 33 yrs.

PITTSBURGH - Don Bell, vp of public and professional affairs for Thrift Drug, will retire at the end of this month after 33 years of service.

Bell started at Thrift as a registered pharmacist apprentice in 1946. After completing the pharmacy curriculum at Duquesne University, he graduated with honors in 1957.

During his career at Thrift, Bell worked as assistant manager and manager at various Thrift drug stores in the Pittsburgh area. He was appointed professional director of the company in 1963 and was later named personnel director. In 1969, he became director of the public and professional affairs department, and was named vice president in 1981.

Bob Perrin, vp personnel at the chain, said a replacement has yet to be named to succeed Bell.
