Nokia answers operators' needs

From Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) to analog cellular, Finland-based Nokia recently received orders from several international cellular operators for switching equipment as well as cellular phones. The firm will be supplying BellSouth New Zealand with more than $18 million worth of GSM switching and radio network systems.

The firm also will be supplying Telecom Finland with FIM 60 million of GSM switching infrastructure equipment including: DX 200 mobile switching centers, base station controllers and base station transceiver stations. Additionally, Nokia will be supplying Cidcorn/BellSouth, the cellular operator in Chile, with Nokia 101 microportable cellular telephones.
