Ericsson supplies Vodafone with GSM switches

Sweden-based Ericsson has received a $54 million order from Vodafone Ltd. for the supply of cellular telephone switches during the next two years. Vodafone is the private provider of cellular service in the United Kingdom and will use Ericsson's mobile switching centers and base station controllers in its GSM and Micro Cellular Networks.

Also, Ericsson has been awarded a $30 million contract by Telecom Australia to supply GSM equipment for Telecom Australia's GSM commercial network. The terms of the contract provide for Ericsson to supply GSM switching systems and radio base station equipment and services for the initial network in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
