Long trail will seek to "give back" this year - Weekly Specialty & Import Beer Report - Long Trail Brewing Co - Brief Article

Modern Brewery Age, March 8, 2004

Andy Pherson, President and CEO of Long Trail Brewing Company of Bridgewater Corners, VT, has announced that the focus of the company's 15th anniversary celebration will be "giving back" to the community and its loyal customers.

To mark the anniversary and to thank loyal customers, Pherson said that Long Trail will be hosting a series of events throughout New England during the next year.

At the January kick-off event, he reported that Long Trail hosted an open party at the brewery during which the company presented the local chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation with a check for $3,000.

Pherson said that the foundation, whose goal is finding a cure for breast cancer, will be one of the many charitable organizations the company will make donations to during 2004.

"It is extremely gratifying for us to give back in this way. It is our way of saying thanks to the community and loyal customers who have supported us throughout the years," said Pherson. "Cancer is an insidious killer and we want to make a meaningful contribution that will help fight it."

Pherson said that the brewery plans to donate at least $50,000, or $1 for every barrel of ale produced, during the anniversary year to a number of causes including the American Cancer Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Special Olympics and others.

"Throughout 2004, Long Trail will host 15th Anniversary festivities across its ever-expanding Eastern region," Pherson said. "We will be sponsoring concerts, special events and promotional giveaways for our customers."

This Spring, the company is launching a "Vermont Adventure Weekend" promotion with Grand Prize winners receiving an extended stay at the Killington Resort, passes to the resort's adventure center and a helicopter excursion of the Green Mountains.

Long Trail Brewing Company was founded in May 1989. The brewery's portfolio includes Long Trail Ale, Double Bag, Blackbeary Wheat, Harvest Ale, and Hibernator.
