Modern Brewery Age, March 19, 2001

The sixth annual Classic City Brew Fest will be held at the Classic Center in downtown Athens, Georgia on Saturday, April 7, from 2:30-7 PM.

According to the organizers, it will be the Southeast's largest indoor beer festival and will feature 160 beers from around the world and live Bluegrass music. The event will benefit a service group known as the AIDS Coalition of Northeast Georgia.

"The Brew Fest admission price allows attendees to enjoy the music and sample a huge variety of beer styles from over 16 different countries," said Owen Ogletree, director of the BrewFest. "Local microbrews, beers from brewpubs, and well-known brands from all the great brewing nations will be represented."

A detailed program book with information about every beer is included with each ticket. "Craft brewing is experiencing growth and resurgence all over the world," Ogletree says, "and the Classic City Brew Fest offers beer fans the chance to taste, make notes, talk to brewers, and evaluate widely differing beers side by side.

Tickets are $17.75 in advance and $20 at the door. Interested persons may check the web at http://www.ClassicCityBrew.com.
