Cooper's Vintage Ale available

Modern Brewery Age, March 21, 2005

Preiss Imports of Ramona, CA, is now offering Coopers 2004 Vintage Ale, produced by Coopers Brewery of Adelaide, Australia. This is a bottle-conditioned ale that can be cellared for extended periods. "Coopers Vintage Ale is brewed with a selection of barley and wheat malt, balanced with a triple hopping of Hersbrucker, Cascade and Pride of Ringwood hops," says Dr.

Tim Cooper, director and chief brewer. "The ale was pitched with two yeast strains and underwent an extended primary fermentation. It was then pitched again with specially-nurtured yeast, vitalized to allow longevity of bottle conditioning. Stored under cool conditions, Coopers Vintage will become more complex for two years or more." Preiss Imports, which has handled Coopers for five years, is now distributing the Coopers brands in 35 states. "Coopers grew 20% last year," says importer Henry Preiss. "I am amazed at the loyal following for these brands." Priess notes that Coopers is the last family brewery in Australia. It was founded by Thomas Cooper and has remained in family hands since 1868.
