NBWA outlines 2002 legislative priorities - National Beer Wholesalers' Association - Brief Article

Modern Brewery Age, April 8, 2002

On the eve of the annual NBWA/Brewers Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., the National Beer Wholesalers Association has announced a docket of legislative priorities to be addressed with Congress.

For the second session of the 107th Congress, the NBWA is seeking to put the spotlight on several key issues, including the following:

* Permanent estate tax repeal;

* Roll back of the federal excise tax;

* Comm. driver's license reform;

* Licensed beverage advertising.

"NBWA members," says NBWA President David Rehr, "not only want to meet with members of Congress and discuss our industry's interests and priorities, they also want to thank their elected officials and show their support for the hard work and dedication shown to get our country back on track since September 11. This is an excellent opportunity for those in the beer industry to accomplish both of these goals."

Guest speakers for this year's Conference are Democratic Chief Deputy Whip and Texas Representative Max Sandlin (TX-1) and Chief Deputy Majority Whip and Missouri Representative Roy Blunt (MO-7).

"These members are strong supporters of the beer wholesaling industry and America's small businesses in general," Mr. Rehr said. "As leaders of their respective parties, Sandlin and Blunt will have exciting experiences and first-hand knowledge to share with attendees at the conference."
