Colorado lawmakers finally agree to .08 BAC

Modern Brewery Age, May 24, 2004

Colorado lawmakers have finally caved in to years of pressure from the federal government, agreeing to lower the blood-alcohol limit for drunken driving on the final day of the 2004 session. The bill, approved as the state's lawmakers wrapped up their session last week, lowers the drunken-driving threshold from 0.1 percent blood-alcohol level to 0.08 percent.

The federal government threatened to withhold highway money, prompting some lawmakers to complain about federal blackmail.
