Caption: Bridgeport Brewing Co. of Portland, OR, is launching an advertising blitz for its Bridgeport IPA, a brand that has been nominated by the prestigious Brewing Industry International Awards for a medal. The company has fielded an advertising piece that looks like an English tabloid newspaper, complete with a sensational story about Bridgeport master brewer Karl Ockert's suspicious presence on the BIIA judging panel. The ad piece will be inserted into Willamette Week, and The Oregonian. In actuality, while Ockert was on the judging panel, strict rules prevented judges from tasting their own beer.
