Reminder: July is American Beer Month - Weekly Specialty Beer Report - Brief Article

Modern Brewery Age, July 15, 2002

The Association of Brewers is circulating reminders that July has been designated American Beer Month.

American Beer Month was first celebrated in July of 2000. That year, an American Brewers Rally was held on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum.

"American Beer Month is a grassroots campaign to promote, American brewing and celebrate the diversity and variety of American beer," the Association said in a statement. "Help us and the nation celebrate the pride and heritage of American-brewed beer by drinking American beer."

Organizers have set up a web-site at www.americanbeermonth.com, and have made available downloadable Beer Month artwork and logos to design banners and web sites.

The Association has noted a number of ways that brewers and enthusiasts can help celebrate the month:

* Hold a beer dinner with friends.

* Try a new beer each week.

* Have a party where each friend brings a different beer.

* Brew traditional or historical American beer recipes.
