Kornhauser's musical past now in the open

Modern Brewery Age, August 25, 2003

Alan Kornhauser wasn't always one of Portland's top brew masters. Prior to his work with Anchor, Pabst/China and Portland Brewing Co., Alan used to experiment with rhythm and vocals--showing a special liking for the electric mandolin. So much, in fact, that when he played he was a member of the top act six nights a week in Atlanta. Now, that band, Rosebud, will reunite for the first time since 1991.

"I wanted to make beer since I was a little kid," says Kornhauser. "So I left all the screaming drunks behind."

Kornhauser jammed with Rosebud from 1973-1974, although the band managed to go on without him for 12 years after that.

A reunion show is scheduled September 13-14 at Uncle Otto's Oktoberfest. Rosebud members will be flying into Portland from San Francisco, Atlanta and Indianapolis.
