Modern Brewery Age, August 27, 2001
The Tasmanian brewery Boags reports that a brewhouse error should not effect continued operations.
Boags director Lyndon Adams said today that damage to the brewery's lauter tun was not as great as first feared. In a brewhouse blunder, about eight tons of grain was poured into the tank without the previous load being removed. This meant the equipment was subject to double the weight it was meant to withstand. It was feared that the vessel had suffered sever structural damage.
The brewery had to wait 48 hours for the grain to cool before it could be removed. Although several days of engineering tests are still needed, Mr. Adams said he was confident that brewing could resume soon.

Adams reported that brewing could have stopped for up to nine months since a new tank would have had to be custom-made overseas.
