BridgePort Brewing Co

Modern Brewery Age, Sept 8, 2003

BridgePort Brewing Co. of Portland, OR, has announced the forthcoming release of its award-winning winter seasonal, BridgePort Ebenezer Ale. The brand is classified as a traditional winter warmer, and is named after Charles Dickens' classic character. The brewery reports the brand will be shipped to distributors the week of Sept.

15, and is scheduled to hit store shelves by the first week of October. The beer will be available in package and on draught through Jan. 2004. The brewery reports that the ale is "full-bodied, rich mahogany in color, crowned with a creamy head and finished with a festive warmth." According to brewer Karl Ockert, the ale is brewed using four kinds of roasted malts, together with local and imported hops. It is naturally-conditioned in the keg, and bottle. The beer was named a silver medal winner at the Brewing Industry International Awards competition in London in 2002. The brewery has designed packaging to link the beer with Dicken's Christmas Carol. One side of the six-pack carrier and case box shows Ebenezer with his miserly "Scrooge" personality intact while the other side of the packaging depicts the "transformed" Character Ebenezer.
