The Widmer Brothers Brewing Co. of Portland, OR, has revived its top-selling winter seasond beer, Winternacht. "our Winternacht captures the rich, roasty flavor that Germans enjoy on the coldest nights of the writer," says brewer co-founder Kurt Widmer. "In the authentic German altbier tradition, Winternacht is top-fermented to impart the character of an ale and cold-conditioned for the smoothness of a lager.

The taste begins with a roasty aroma, followed by a hint of hop bitterness and balanced by a rich, chocolaty malt sweemes." The brand will be sold in 12-ounce six-packs and on draught through the end of January. Winternacht contains 7% alcohol by volume.
