Modern Brewery Age, Oct 14, 2002
Brick Brewery of Waterloo, Ontario has announced that it will pioneer the Canadian introduction of a new plastic beer bottle.
"This isn't your typical U-Brew plastic beer bottle," says Jim Brickman, Pioneer, Founder and President of Brick Brewery. "This innovative and unique wide mouth plastic beer bottle has taken years to develop and test, and we are delighted to be the first to bring it to Canada. The 473m1 (l6oz) Brick PET holds more beer than the standard glass beer bottle and is designed to chill quickly and stay cold longer. It's also re-sealable, recyclable and returnable to The Beer Store."
Brickman said Brick's (Yellow Label) Lager has been selected as the beer to be bottled in the Brick PET.

"Initially," says Kevin Meens, Executive VP of Marketing, "the Brick Plastic PET will be exclusive to Ontario, but we have also received a terrific early response from other provinces, especially those where cans are popular."
Brick will launch the brand using a Brick Brewer's Dozen promotion. In cases of Brick's craft brewed beers (Brick Amber, Waterloo Dark, Brick Premium, Formosa and Red Baron) there will be 13 beers for the price of 12 - the 13th bottle will be a 473m1 sample of the Brick Yellow Label Lager in the PET.
"People will get a chance to sample the new bottle, and receive great value," adds Brickman. "Packaging of the Brick PET is also unique in that it will be offered in four-packs with an easy to carry custom designed neck lock for under $10.
