Modern Brewery Age, Oct 25, 2004
In the most recent USA Today-CNN-Gallup Poll, the race for Colorado's open Senate seat is a virtual tie between Republican beer magnate Pete Coors and Democrat Ken Salazar.
The poll found that 49 percent support Salazar and 48 percent back Coors. Three percent had no opinion or chose other. The margin of error was 4 percentage points.
A similar poll by Gallup taken Oct. 3-6 had given Salazar a huge edge, 54 percent to 43 percent.
Last week, President Bush made a two-day campaign swing through Colorado, and took the opportunity to stump for Mr. Coors. The president headlined a Pete Coors fund-raiser and appeared with Mr. Coors at two big rallies.

Salazar, meanwhile, is scheduled to appear in public for the first time with his party's presidential nominee, John Kerry at a rally in Pueblo this weekend.
Coors and Salazar are seeking the open seat being given up by Republican Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell.
