Caption: Hopheads unite! This month, Deschutes Brewery of Bend, OR, has released Double Bale Quail Imperial India Pale Ale. If the name is a mouthful, imagine the impact of 10% alcohol by volume coupled with a potent IBU count. Deschutes used two bales of hops (about 400 pounds worth) for the one limited edition 100-barrel batch of Double Bale Quail IPA. Only 900 cases will be available. Made in the style of a barley wine and inspired by the brewery's Quail Springs IPA, Double Bale Quail Imperial IPA is a beer designed for maximum flavor and impact. According to Deschutes' Lesley Walthew, "Oak cask conditioning and dry hopping provide the finishing touches for this ale."
