The Krones Variopac Tray/Shrink Packer was displayed at the Pack Expo in Las Vegas. The unit is designed to expand Krones integrated packaging systems and turnkey capabilities by offering continuous motion packing and shrink wrapping of single products or multi-packs at rates of 18 to 100 cycles per minute.

The fully-automated unit is designed to handle cartons, cans, bottles, and other metal plastic or glass containers as it packs them onto pads or trays. Models available include the Variopac TFS (pictured) or the PFS (pad film shrink), FS (film shrink) and the T for trays. According to Krones, a key benefit of the system is ability to quickly make changes between container sizes. In addition, all controls are located at a centralized touch screen. Krones, Inc. is based in Franklin, WI. The company said "these high-performance polyethylene resins offer packagers and converters thermally stable, flexible packaging materials that exhibit superior adhesion."
