Dr. Owades to present broadened "All About Beer" seminar at Anchor Brewing, March 2-3

Modern Brewery Age, Dec 13, 1999

Celebrated brewing chemist Joe Owades will present his annual "All About Beer" seminar at the Anchor Brewing Company, march 2-3,2000.

This year, he reports that the event will be "double-faceted" including for the first time a detailed discussion of alcohol and its unique properties. "The attempts by some to link alcohol with drugs will be scientifically and rationally refuted," Dr. Owades reports. "This seminar is for brewers, owners, ad executives, salesmen, writers and suppliers, who will gain valuable knowledge available nowhere else."

The seminar, which Dr. Owades has presented every year since 1980, presents an overview of the entire brewing process. In his presentations, the good doctor will speak about different types of beer, compare imported and domestic beers, compare pasteurization and sterile filtration and discuss the issue of shelf life. Daily tasting sessions will teach how to taste beer and what to look for in beer. A special dictionary for beer tasting will be provided to students.

Dr. Owades has 32 years of practical experience in the brewing industry, with stints at Carling, Rheingold and Anheuser-Busch.
