Anheuser-Busch has seized 58% of c-store sales - Brief Article

Modern Brewery Age, Feb 2, 2004

Anheuser-Busch sets the pace in c-store sales, a fact brought home by Information Resources Incorporated (IRI) data released last week. According to the new numbers, Anheuser now holds a 58 percent share of convenience store beer dollar sales nationwide.

That number is 16 percent higher than A-B's share of supermarket dollar sales, and 8 percent higher than the company's share of U.S. beer shipments, IRI reported.

A-B was especially strong in the Midwest, where it held up to 71 percent of c-store sales, and in the Southeast, where it had 63.5 percent.

Anheuser's 58.4 percent share towered over Miller, with 17 percent and Coors with 8.5 percent.
