Deschutes Brewery rolls out casks of 2005 Reserve

Modern Brewery Age, Feb 20, 2006

Brewers at Deschutes Brewery (above) fill oak barrels with Mirror Mirror Barley Wine, now available in very limited quantities. The beer is the first selection in the Bend, OR-based crafter's "Reserve" series. The beer was brewed in February 2005, and aged for four months in French Oak wine barrels.

The beer was then dry hopped and bottled in early 2006. "Mirror Mirror, a beer so nice we named it twice," says Lesley Walthew of Deschutes. "Ten months of dedicated care have yielded a unique beer with hints of raisin and oak emerging from a rich malt base tinged with the slightest citrus hop aroma." The production run was limited to 63 barrels, and will be sold in select accounts in the Northwest U.S.
