Micros may step into Pabst shoes at Milwaukee fest

Modern Brewery Age, March 24, 1997

If the Guild's idea comes to fruition, it would make the annual 11-day music festival one of the nation's primary beer events. Several Wisconsin micros have considered having their own venue at the event, but have said they would participate under the auspices of the Guild. "Our strength lies in our members," Deb Carey of the New Glarus Brewery was quoted as saying. "Together we are a large portion of the state's (beer) industry."

The guild has 31 member companies that employ approximately 400 people, and produced an estimated 70,000 barrels of beer last year. Guild members are prohibited from making more than 100,000 barrels a year and must be majority owned by Wisconsin residents.
