MGD "Train" spots extend to POS retail promotion displays

Modern Brewery Age, April 26, 1993

Miller Genuine Draft will extend its "Train" television commercials into a themed point-of-sale retail promotion.

In the television spot, a man and woman meet on a train and enjoy a Miller Genuine Draft.

The promotion, themed "Get on America's Cold Line," features train-related point-of-sale displays that include inflatable railroad cars, signal crossings with flashing lights and railroad track floor mats.

As part of the promotion (where legal) consumers will receive discounts on customized coolers with proof of purchase as well as instantly redeemable coupon stickers for $.50 off a bag of ice.

The discount coupons will be placed on packages of Miller Genuine Draft and MGD Light.

One of the point-of-sale displays is a 1,500-square-inch triple dissolve motion spectacular.

The display features part of a train with one of its windows dissolving into three different scenes from the TV spot.

A motion activated unit plays music from the commercial as well.
