Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedOld Milwaukee debuts new characters with familiar theme in "great outdoors"
Modern Brewery Age, June 15, 1992
As promised by the Stroh Brewery Co., the evolution of Old Milwaukee beer commercials has continued. Following last year's "Swedish Bikini Team" and "It Gets Better" campaign, Old Milwaukee has launched three new spots capitalizing on past advertising.
The ads introduce Jack and Andy - two longtime friends from Altoona, PA, who, although separated by 2,500 miles most of the year, share a love of adventure and, of course, Old Milwaukee beer. The ads bring the friends together in a variety of outdoor adventures.
In the "Camping" spot, shot in Yosemite National Park, the two friends camp out while enjoying "life's pleasures" - a televised ball game, a hot pizza and beer.

According to Mark Steinberg, Old Milwaukee brand director, the campaign features recognizable theme music from classic television programs. For example, the "Camping" spot incorporates the theme from "Bonanza."
"The ads are contemporary and upbeat in such a way that we believe our consumers will embrace Jack and Andy with the enthusiasm of an old friend, and will stay tuned for more adventures of Jack and Andy as we roll out additional spots later this summer," Steinberg said.
Two additional commercials will be added to the lineup later this summer. In all, three 30-second and three 60-second commercials will air.
