Michelob Golden Draft and Bud win separate beverage packaging awards

Modern Brewery Age, June 22, 1992

The Budweiser and Michelob Golden Draft beer brands each received top honors for their packaging designs and production values during two recent competitions, according to a report from Anheuser-Busch, Inc.

The brewery's flagship brand, Bud, received the Golden Cylinder Award from the Gravure Association of America for "best packaging in the beer category." The Gravure Association chose Budweiser's Christmas 12-pack can carton as "best in graphic design, reproduction, excellence, technical achievements and package uniqueness."

The Michelob Golden Draft 12-pack, meanwhile, was recently honored with the Gold Award from the Paper Board Packaging Council.

According to Anheuser-Busch, Inc., vice president of brand management Steve Burrows, this is the top award in the beverage category and normally goes to the beverage packaging that demonstrates the most superior structural and graphic design and overall excellence.

"We're very proud to receive these prestigious packaging awards," Burrows said. "It demonstrates our continued role as a leader in all of beverage marketing. Our congratulations go to our fine Packaging Development Department for their outstanding work."
