Miller to sponsor int'l Goodwill Games

Miller Brewing Co. announced it will be an official sponsor of the 1990 Goodwill Games, to be held in Seattle from July 20 to August 5.

Miller's sponsorship includes television advertising, promotional and signage rights and the exclusive national sponsorship of the ice hockey competition. Teams from the United States, Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), Finland, Canada, Sweden and Switzerland are scheduled to compete.

"We are pleased to sponsor the 1990 Goodwill Games," said Robert Toledo, vice president of brand management, Miller Brewing Co. "The Games will showcase many of the world's best athletes and outstanding athletic competition. Our support demonstrates our continuing commitment to amateur sports and Olympic hopefuls."

The sponsorship is part of a joint agreement between Miller and the Turner Broadcasting System, Inc, official host of the Games.

"We are extremely excited to have Miller Brewing as a sponsor of the 1990 Goodwill Games," said Farrell Reynolds, president, Turner Broadcasting sales. "Miller's campaigns and promotional activities in the area of sports are exceptional and we look forward to working with Miller on this exciting international event."

Last held in Moscow in 1986, the Goodwill Games will bring together more than 2,500 athletes in 21 sports, including ice hockey, track and field, baseball, volleyball and yachting.
