Christmas Ale is Catamount tradition - Catamount Brewing Co

Christmas Ale is Catamount tradition

The Catamount Brewing Co. recently announced the production of its 1991 Christmas Ale.

In 1989, the White River Jct., VT-based microbrewery began its tradition of a limited-production specialty ale brewed especially for the holiday season. Drawing on a British tradition of dark, full-bodied "winter warmer" ales brewed at Christmas time, these beers are "a centerpiece for social gatherings and the perfect accompaniment to seasonal foods," a Catamount spokesperson explained.

Catamount Christmas Ale 1991 has a reddish-amber color and full, rich body. The brewer added that the beer's generous maltiness is balanced by a full addition of spicy Cascade hops.

The brew is bottled in a festive holiday package, including a colorful Christmas tree (dated 1991) and a gold foil top, designed to compliment the product.

The Christmas Ale was released in November and will be available in Vermont only through the holidays.
