Thomas named Lite's Player of the Year

Buffalo Bills running back Thurman Thomas has been named the 1991 Miller Lite NFL Player of the Year. The selection of Thomas was announced by Kevin Wulff, Miller's director of event marketing, during a Minneapolis press conference.

"Thurman Thomas led the league in combined yards from scrimmage for the third consecutive season and played a key role in leading the Buffalo Bills to the AFC Championship and a berth in Super Bowl XXVI," Wulff said. "He was the unanimous choice of the national media panel voting on the award."

"This is fantastic," Thomas said. "To be in the same company as Joe Montana, the Miller Lite Player of the Year the past two seasons, is quite an honor."

Thomas selected the YMCA to receive the $25,000 donation that will be made in his name by Miller Lite. "It's been a dream season," Thomas reported. "The Buffalo Bills have made it into the Super Bowl, and I'm very grateful to receive this award. I'd like to thank Miller Lite for giving me this opportunity to help the YMCA."
