Sonoma Valley Growers, Vintners name new executive director.

Claudia Glade replaces Chris Finlay in the post. Glade, an area resident since 1976, most recently was with the Napa Valley Grape Growers Association and Napa County Farm Bureau. Earlier, she had been a reporter for the Sonoma Index-Tribune and was with the Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau.

Caravelle Wine Selections names three.

Patrick Natale is area manager for the Southeast, Tom Reese is area manager for the Southwest and Doug Brockert is district manager for Southern California and Arizona. The company handles imports from France, Portugal and Australia, and Burgess Cellars in California.

Allied Domecq announces changes.

Henrik Ojikutu is senior vp/divisional sales manager for the eastern U.S., Doug Zerbst is division manager-Southeast, Jeannie Groome is divisional manager for the Mid-Atlantic, John Marshall is manager for the Northern Mid-Atlantic region, Joe Bosco is vice president, Midwest and Brian Miller is district sales manager for metro New York.

Wade Wolfe advances at Hogue Cellars.

Dr. Wade Wolfe, formerly general manager at the Prosser, Wash, winery, now is a company officer and is vice president for production and winegrowing. He earned a doctorate in grape genetics from U.C., Davis and is a viticultural authority. He also operates his own winery, Thurston-Wolfe Cellars, with his wife.

Santo Barbara Vintners name new executive director.

Michael Perry now is executive director of the Santa Barbara County Vintners' Association. Most recently, he was executive director of the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association. Prior to that he was with Wente Vineyards for 15 years.

Paul Thomas, Ste. Chapelle name new winemakers.

Bob Smasne was promoted to winemaker at Paul Thomas in Sunnyside, Wash. A Washington State native, Smasne earned a bachelor of science degree from Washington State University. At Ste. Chapelle at Caldwell, Idaho, Chuck Devlin joined the winery as winemaker. Both wineries are owned by Corns Brands, Inc., of Woodinville, Wash.

Doug Metz consults for S.F. law firm.

Douglas Metz, retired as managing director and general counsel for the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America, has joined Holland & Knight LLP, San Francisco law firm, as a consultant on licensed beverages practice.

Two join Freixenet USA in regional sales posts.

Jud Carroll comes to the company from a Washington State distributor and is responsible for six western states. Larry Clancy most recently was with Palm Bay Imports and is focusing on six southern/mid-western states.

Changes announced at Clos du Bois.

Tom Hobart is now senior vp of winery operations for Allied Domecq Wines USA, parent of Clos du Bois. Steve Smit now is vice president/general manager at Clos du Bois, Pete Opatz is director of vineyard operations and grower relations and Margaret Davenport, winemaking vp, now heads up Domecq's technical advisory committee.
