Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedJess Jackson starts new mobile bottling line company
Wines & Vines, Dec, 2002
On Aug. 1, Jess Jackson launched a mobile bottling line business, Journey Bottling Company, LLC. The company offers two mobile bottling lines: one acquired from Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates, the other from Jackson's Matanzas Creek Winery.
Each bottling line is built into a 53-foot tractar-trailer rig and is capable of bottling approximately 80 bottles per minute, or 2,200 cases per day. For $2-$2.50 a case, two- and three-person teams operate each of the self-contained trucks. The lines fill 375ml and 750ml as well as 1.5 liter bottles, insert straight corks, and apply tin and polylaminate capsules and pressure-sensitive labels. One line also applies wet glue labels, shrink capsules and wax cork seals.

Together the bottling lines serve wineries from Ukiah to Salinas. Wineries supply packaging, water, electricity, filters, wine-related gases and labor for loading empty bottles and offloading packed case goods.
