ZAP Fest will be Jan. 22-25, 2003.

Zinfandel Advocates & Producers (ZAP) will host their 12th annual festival Jan. 22-25, 2003 with various events in Napa, Alameda and San Francisco. Wine School at Indiana's Oliver Winery.

The Heartland Wine School for commercial and advanced amateur winemakers will take place Feb. 24-26, 2003 at Oliver Winery in Bloomington, Ind. Topics will include all aspects of winery operations from the end of primary fermentation through the bottling line. Enrollment is limited to 100 students. IPM Conference will be Feb. 2-4, 2003.

The Association of Applied IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Ecologists (AAIE) will hold its annual conference Feb. 2-4, 2003 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. University researchers, pest control professionals and trade representatives will discuss cutting-edge methods of 1PM under the theme "The Urban-Ag Interface and the Future of Agriculture." Mondavi sues Schrader Cellars.

Robert Mondavi Corporation is suing Schrader Cellars following the release of 300 cases of Schrader's 2000 Beckstoffer Original Tokalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Mondavi owns 550 acres of the historic vineyard, and alleges it holds a trademark on the To Kalon name. Schrader bought the grapes from Napa grower Beckstoffer Vineyards, which bought a portion of the To Kalon vineyard in 1993. Mondavi wants a court order to prevent Schrader from using the name.

Wine Institute co-sponsored Corporate Integrity Conference.

John De Luca, on behalf of Wine Institute, was a principal sponsor of a conference on corporate integrity in San Francisco Nov. 1. The conference drew more than 200 business, labor, media, academic and governmental leaders. De Luca introduced W.I.'s "Code of Sustainable Wine-growing" as an example of the California industry's long record of self governance and socially responsible practices.

Irrigation conference January in Fresno.

The 41st annual meeting of the California Irrigation Institute, Inc. will be Jan. 29-30 in Fresno. The theme is "Zero Discharge: What Will It Cost?" Topics will include the latest technology, policies affecting irrigation water discharge and irrigation in general. For information, visit the Web site caii.org.

Indiana horticulture congress is Jan. 27-29.

The 2003 Indiana Horticultural Congress and Trade Show will be Jan. 27-29 at the Adams' Mark Hotel in Indianapolis, Ind. Sponsored by Purdue University Dept. of Horticulture & Landscape Architecture, Purdue Cooperative Extension Service and the Indiana Grower Organization, the sessions will include Beginning Grape Growing, Basic Winemaking, a winegrape symposium and organic crop workshop.
