Justin Meyer Sells Share Of Silver Oak Wine Cellars

Wines & Vines, Feb, 2001

Justin Meyer, well-known Napa Valley winemaker, has sold his share of Silver Oak Wine Cellars to the winery's cofounder, Ray Duncan. Reports were that Meyer, a former Christian Brother, received $120 million for his ownership share. He will continue as consulting winemaker; Daniel Baron is winemaker.

As a Cabernet Sauvignon specialist, Silver Oak developed a reputation as a premium or super-premium producer.

The winery's initial facility was in Napa Valley's Rutherford area. A second facility was added more recently in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley.

Duncan is an investor in various enterprises and owns a company focusing on gas and oil exploration, and has a buffalo ranch in Colorado, per Wine Today.
