Wines & Vines, Feb, 2003
The Yadkin Valley of North Carolina has been approved as the state's first American Viticultural Area (AVA). Located in northwestern N.C., the valley contains 1.4 million acres. Currently there are six wineries and more than 400 vineyard acres in the area, and several more wineries are planned or under construction.
