Pill-popping

Wines & Vines, Feb, 2003

While lunching with a group of wine writers last month, we were intrigued to hear tales of an Australian pill that (supposedly) eliminates hangovers. The table was abuzz with questions and testimonials about the pill when St. Supery winemaker Michael Beaulac innocently inquired: "Why not just drink less?" Looks of astonished disbelief all around the table.

The very idea! By the way, W&V tested out the Chaser for Wine Headaches (a domestic hangover preventative) at our annual holiday party. According to the package instructions, we were supposed to take the first two tablets with our first drink, then repeat every 2-3 hours. We took the first dose, as directed, but things got a bit fuzzy after that. Maybe Michael had a pretty good idea, after all.
