Jean-Jacques Michel, founder of Domaine Michel in Healdsburg, Sonoma County, died Dec. 18, 2003 after a long illness. He was 68. A Swiss native, Michel built the winery, now operating as Michel-Schlumberger Wines, in 1979, and served as chairman until 1993, when Jacques Schlumberger became majority partner. Michel is survived by three children and five grandchildren.
