J. Lohr Estates

Wines & Vines, May, 2001

The 1997 vintage keeps coming up on the screen. J. Lohr Estates Paso Robles, Seven Oaks, Cabernet Sauvignon is full in the mouth and exploding with flavor. The price is very attractive, $15, and 50,000 cases were produced, so it should be available nationally. That's if the monopolistic screwhead wholesaler in your area carries J.

Lohr. If the wholesaler doesn't, it should. This wine would be just great with gnocchi at Scopazzi's, a family restaurant in downtown San Rafael. Went there recently with Al Cribari and his spouse, but we didn't have this lovely Cabernet. We did manage with Orvieto Reserva and a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.
