Illinois eliminates industry funding

Wines & Vines, Sept, 2003

State funding for the Illinois Grape and Wine Resources Council, which has remained at $500,000 yearly since the council was created in 1997, was reduced to zero by Governor Rod Blagojevich in July. Currently the state's 18 wineries make up a $20 million industry.
