* The Agricultural Export Program of the California Department of Food and Agriculture has allocated $950,000 to 41 state companies for the promotion of wines, table grapes and raisins. These matching fund grants are part of an overall $2,830,728 allocation for promotion of all California agricultural products.
The largest recipient was the E&J Gallo Winery, which got $125,000 to promote its wines in Mexico and the Pacific Rim. Heublein, Inc. received $70,000 to promote its wines in Canada. An allocation of $55,000 went to Wente Bros. for promotions in the Pacific Rim and Europe. Wine Institute also received $55,000 for promotional work in Mexico and France. Allocations of $50,000 each went to Guild Wineries (Japan, Canada, Korea, Germany), Robert Mondavi Winery (Europe, Pacific Rim, Canada) and Sebastiani Vineyard (Hong Kong, Canada, Singapore).

Others receiving major grants included the Sonoma County Wineries Assn., $45,000; Vintners International, $42,000, California Table Grape Commission, $40,000; Friends of the Vine, $32,000; Mirassou Sales Co., $30,000; The California Winer, $25,000; Stratford Winery, $20,000; Sutter Home Winery, $17,500; Vinformation/Mountain View, $17,000; Geyser Peak Winery, $17,500; Calasia Wine Traders, Ltd., $12,000; California Wine Country Enterprises, $12,000 and Seagram Classics Wine Co., $12,000. There were 20 other allocations of $10,000 or less.
